What It Is

  • The I-Drive circulator is a concept whereby guests and patrons of International Drive could, by means of a public transit system, access a vast majority of the businesses and attractions in the I-Drive corridor.

Proposed Route

  • The I-Drive circulator would follow an 8-mile route in and around the International Drive corridor, essentially connecting Sea World to Universal Studios to Belz Factory Outlets, and points in between. Located on the system would also be one of Orlando's proposed Intermodal Centers (Canadian Court Intermodal Center), where passengers could connect to the proposed OIA Connector and North/South Light Rail Transit (LRT) Systems.

Projected Timeline

  • The I-Drive Circulator Alternative/Technology Assessment Study began in December 2003 and was completed in August 2005. The purpose of the study was to determine the type of technology and proposed alignment most suitable for the I-Drive area.

Financial Considerations

  • Preliminary capital cost estimates range between $389 million and $858 million (2004 $), depending on the type of technology and which alignment is chosen. The I-Drive Circulator is presently not included in METROPLAN ORLANDO's Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and local funding for the project has not yet been identified.
